Ammiro molto i Mecanoo ma sono dell’idea che ci sia una frattura tra il ns modo di intendere l’architettura e quella degli studi olandesi. Seppur questi vadano da sempre a velocità sostenuta e noi no, la concezione nordica, paradossalmente, privilegia il gioco delle forme favorendo un approccio ludico della geometria creando incastri, salti di scala, grosse trasparenze e favorendo appunto materiali come il legno a cercare calore e luce. L’architettura mediterranea al contrario predilige le ombre, si protegge dal sole, l’acqua! Che purtroppo compare sempre meno nei progetti. Il nostro animo é passionale e drammatico più vicino alle culture mediorientali e arabe per design ma sopratutto per carattere. É un peccato perché é come misurarsi e mitizzare qualcuno che é totalmente diverso generando una continua frustrazione e di fatto abbandonando le radici della nostra cultura. Perché ogni luogo é diverso come in ogni luogo si parla una lingua diversa.

I like how you take a elevator to the top of the museum to walk down, they didn't say so but I suspect it's a neat way to pace guest circulating downwards so the mood is more quiet and interesting since your not butt check to butt check in a large group.

OK, a stupid question! I am not an architect, nor an engineer, just a plain old layperson! I have just started watching this series, but want to know! Why does it seem like that everyone that is interviewed for this series, seem to know how to write backwards?

At a certain point many architecture firms get too large and lose their ability to bring the best design to life. This is the criticism that Steven Holl made about Zaha Hadid's huge company, which expanded several times into a staff of several hundred. At the time of her death there was a staff of 400 with 36 projects across 21 countries. One thing to note about the office being profiled: it looks nothing like design studios at the university level. Lots of computer stations everywhere. An army of young energetic designers building study models? Nicht.

As I look at some of these projects, unless the fees that these architects get are high, the principals will bask in the glory and the employees will continue to work for peasants wages. Big firms will suck the life out of you. I know because i have done it. My next life instead of a 5 year bachelor of Architecture degree, I will pursue a dual degree in mechanical and electrical engineering. I recommend that every architecture student work in a large firm during the summer breaks to get a feel for the real life of a young architecture graduate. You will not be enjoying working 60 hours and getting paid for 40. And don’t think that building the building n 3D is an easy task when you get into the details. FYI, Frank Gehry’s fees are about 20 percent of the construction cost. An architect’s job is NOT to save the world. One additional word of advice, if you go into business for yourself, learn in an office first for t least 5 years, and then when you finally get there, you are not in business to practice architecture you are in business to make a profit. If you lose that vision, you will fail. Feel free to ask me any questions, I am an architect and have been doing this since high school, almost 60 years.

As long as people seek from humans for solving environmental issues' infrastructures and intelligent designs, there will be humans to offer, however there'll be a lot to understand of along the path of seeking and a lot more to take care of while maintaining it!

We all agree that it's gotta be the interrior, but some buildings' interiors can be as marvelous as their exteriors!
